Terms of Use

1. About these terms

These terms govern access to and use of Sirens (sirens.hast.gr), a media-monitoring portal operated by HÄST, based in Athens, Greece (“HÄST”, “we”, “us”). By signing in, you accept them on your own behalf and on behalf of the organisation that asked HÄST to invite you (“your organisation”).

If your organisation has a signed agreement with HÄST for Sirens, that agreement prevails wherever it differs from these terms. How we handle personal data is explained in the Privacy Policy.

2. The service

Sirens gives organisations monitoring and analysis of Greek public media, through the tools in their plan: Airtime, Media Radar, Regional Radar and Social Radar. The tools in your organisation’s plan are the ones agreed with HÄST. HÄST develops Sirens continuously and may add, change or retire features.

3. Access by invitation

• Accounts are created only by HÄST, at the request of a client organisation. Each account is for one named person.
• Your organisation decides with HÄST who has access and which tools, and is responsible for the use of its accounts.
• HÄST may suspend or close an account when the agreement with your organisation ends, when your organisation asks, or when needed to protect Sirens, its users or third parties, including after a breach of these terms.

4. Your account’s security

• Keep your password and any two-factor codes to yourself, and do not let anyone else use your account.
• Choose a password you do not use elsewhere, and change it if you think someone else may know it.
• Tell HÄST at once at hi@hast.gr if you suspect that your account has been used without your permission.
• You are responsible for what is done with your account, unless it happened through a fault of HÄST.

5. What you may do with the content

For as long as your organisation has access, HÄST grants it a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use Sirens and what it shows — figures, rankings, scores, summaries, reports and PDFs — for its own internal purposes.

Unless HÄST agrees in writing, you may not:

• pass on, publish, sell, license or otherwise make available to anyone outside your organisation what you get from Sirens, in whole or in part;
• share your access, or use Sirens on behalf of another organisation;
• copy data from Sirens systematically, by scripts, scraping or bulk downloads, other than through the exports Sirens offers;
• use Sirens or its content to build a competing product, or to train machine-learning models;
• test, probe or get around Sirens’ security or access controls, or interfere with its operation;
• use Sirens in a way that breaks the law or the rights of others.

6. Ownership

Sirens — its software, design, methods, scores (such as HIS, the HÄST Influence Score) and reports — belongs to HÄST or its licensors. The names Sirens and HÄST and their logos may not be used without HÄST’s permission. These terms give you no rights beyond the licence in section 5.

7. Content that belongs to others

The television broadcasts, articles, social media posts and comments that Sirens monitors belong to their respective owners. Sirens shows short excerpts, quotes, captions, summaries and links only to the extent needed to monitor, analyse and report on public media. These terms give you no rights in that content; to use it further, you need the permission of its owner.

Links take you to other sites, whose own terms apply. If you own rights in content shown in Sirens and believe it is used improperly, write to hi@hast.gr.

8. Automated analysis and accuracy

Sirens relies on automated processing, such as speech recognition, classification, sentiment analysis and scoring. Its results can contain errors or omissions, coverage depends on the sources being available, and figures may be revised as data is completed or corrected.

Sirens is a monitoring and analysis tool. It does not give legal, financial or political advice. Check important information against the original source before relying on it.

9. Availability

We work to keep Sirens available and its reports on schedule, but we do not guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, on time or free of errors. Sirens may be unavailable during maintenance, or when a source or a provider we rely on fails. Where we can, we plan maintenance for quiet hours.

10. Liability

To the extent the law allows:

• HÄST is not liable for indirect or consequential loss, such as loss of profit, revenue, business, data or reputation, or for decisions taken on the basis of Sirens;
• HÄST’s total liability in connection with Sirens, in any twelve months, is limited to the fees your organisation paid for Sirens in those twelve months.

Nothing in these terms limits liability for intent or gross negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited under Greek law.

11. Suspension and ending

When access ends, the licence in section 5 ends with it and you must stop using Sirens. Sections 5 to 7, 10 and 13 continue to apply to what happened before, and to any content you still hold.

12. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We change the date at the top when we do, and tell users in Sirens or by email before a significant change applies. If you keep using Sirens after that, the new terms apply.

13. Law and courts

These terms are governed by Greek law. The courts of Athens have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute about them or about Sirens.
